Living in Coppell, Irving and Lewisville

This part of the metroplex wraps around the north and east sides of DFW Airport. Irving's Las Colinas is a business and urban center built around Lake Carolyn and the Mandalay Canals. Coppell has a historic Old Town, and Lewisville and Flower Mound sit along Lewisville Lake in Denton County.

What we love about it

The Mustangs of Las Colinas, nine bronze mustangs in Williams Square, are a must-see, and you can rent pedal boats and kayaks on Lake Carolyn. Toyota Music Factory brings concerts, a movie theater and restaurants. Saturday mornings are for the Coppell Farmers Market in Old Town. Lewisville has its own Old Town and LLELA, a large nature preserve with prairie, wetland and forest trails, and Flower Mound has the River Walk at Central Park.

Getting around and schools

SH 114, SH 183, SH 121, I-635 and I-35E are the main routes, with DART's Orange Line in Las Colinas, the Silver Line through Coppell and the A-train in Lewisville. Coppell ISD serves most of Coppell and north Irving, Irving ISD serves most of Irving, and Lewisville ISD serves Lewisville, Flower Mound and nearby cities. School boundaries can change and do not always follow city lines, so we always suggest confirming the assigned schools for any specific address with the district.

Homes you'll find here

Coppell has established neighborhoods of single-family homes, Las Colinas has condos, townhomes and apartments near Lake Carolyn, and Lewisville and Flower Mound offer everything from established neighborhoods to homes near Lewisville Lake.

Parks, events and weekends

Lewisville's Western Days festival takes over Old Town each fall with live music and food. Lewisville Lake has marinas, beaches and parks, and Andy Brown Park in Coppell has ponds and walking trails. The Irving Arts Center brings shows and exhibits year-round.

Before you buy

Check a few things by the home's address, not just the city name: the school district, the property tax rates on the county appraisal district's site, and whether the home is in a MUD, PID or HOA, each of which can add its own taxes, assessments or dues. Look the home up on FEMA's flood maps and get homeowners insurance quotes early. Hail is common in North Texas, so ask how the roof's age and any wind and hail deductible affect your coverage. This area sits around DFW Airport, so look at flight paths and visit the home at different times of day. Most of the area is in an Oncor area with a choice of electric provider at PowerToChoose.org.
